Combining deployment savings (CAPEX) and automation-driven operational savings (OPEX), OpenWiFi significantly reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) compared to proprietary solutions; OpenWiFi supports a diverse selection of vendor cloud controllers and access points, providing service providers with choice and flexibility in enterprise-grade Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Asterfusion will continue to update and improve in subsequent controller releases, so stay tuned for more information!

Why Choose TIP OpenWiFi?

OpenWiFi is the first project contributed by the Open Converged Wireless (OCW) project group. Launched in May 2021, it includes access point (AP) hardware, an open source AP network operating system (NOS), and SDKs for building cloud-native Wi-Fi controllers and management software for Wi-Fi service providers and enterprises.

OpenWiFi

Building enterprise-level products with the help of excellent open source underlying frameworks has been a common product innovation model, which allows developers to focus on application-level innovation and save deployment and development costs. There are many commercial deployments based on OpenWiFi around the world.

OpenWiFi is fully open and disaggregated, and the cloud controller SDK provides APIs, which supports seamless access to a lot of white-box hardware and is widely used. APs, cloud controllers and OTT analytics solutions from different vendors can interoperate and work together on the same network effortlessly.

OpeWiFi uses a microservices-based architecture. With microservices, large applications can be decomposed into multiple independent components, where each component has its own area of responsibility. When processing a user request, a microservices-based application may invoke many internal microservices to co-generate its response. Modern cloud-native applications often use containers to build microservices, and Docker is a great example of microservices architecture because they allow you to focus on developing services without worrying about dependencies.
